if you were facing your car, what is the solenoid that is to the right side of the EGR solenoid? It suddenly began to tic and its driving me nuts!

sorry back from the dead but um... I think i just took this off and its not throwing a code.. can anyone explain what this does

Evaporative emission purge solenoid

2 vaccum nipples and a Electrical connector.. and a mounting hole w/10mm nut..

Thank you.

Some venting of the gas tank must be provided so it can "breathe" during temperature changes and when the engine is running, so this is provided by hoses connected to a charcoal filled canister usually located in the engine compartment. The charcoal particles in the canister soak up and store fuel vapors when the engine is not running. Then, when the engine is started, a "purge valve" opens to siphon the vapors into the engine where they are burned.

It might not throw a CEL immediately, but it will eventually.

if it allows the gas tank to breathe, then why does mine go "thhhewwwpptt" every time i unscrew my gas cap? does it only let out postive pressure and not allow air into the tank?
