Hello,
I recently built my engine in my 90 AWD Talon. I've got about 3k on it now and noticed a high frequency vibration around 3k rpm and up. The vibration resonates all the way up to my shifter and through the exhaust which makes highway driving irritating. Idle also vibrates my steering wheel (not bad but can be felt) and through the floor.
I did some seaching today on this site and it sounds like to me that my rear balance shaft is out of phase.
I am a GM tech that has owned mostly Conquests/Starions and have performed various engine builds in my time. This is my first 4G63 build. I payed extra attention to my timing during the build because I know these engines bends valves like it's thier job. I did not realize however that I could line up all the timing marks correctly but still have the rear shaft out of phase by 180 degrees. (360 degrees on the sprocket). I have not verified this as of yet, but could a seasoned vetran tell me if I
all the infomation I found is correct?
Thanks in advance
-Derek

Put the rear shaft's timing mark perfectly vertical. Let it go. If it falls counterclockwise, it is in phase. If it goes clockwise, you need to rotate it 360 degrees and do the vertical test again.
