I have been hearing a weird sound coming out of the pulley next to the engine coolant, i dont know what it is.

I had bought one of those "special belt sprays" at pep boys, n it didn't help at all, does anyone know what it is? I'm thinking of gettin pulleys anyways so if its that let me kno..Thanks

Is it a rubbing noise or a whirring noise? Could be a PS pump or water pump on its way out. Is your PS fluid topped up? Mine made noise when it was low.

it is a whurring noise, i changed the Water Pump when i got the car in August (03) so i doubt that it is that, i dunno about the PS pump but it dosent feel funny when it turns tho.

I also changed the Timing belt at the same time of the of the water pump, so it is a whirring noise. I was wondering if i change my Under Drive Pulley will this stop the noise? Thanks

Pully, I dont know about that. But anything is possible right? Can you sort of get your head right in there and tell where its comming from? Is it comming from inside the lower timing belt cover. Did you top up the ps fluid?

Hit up Harbor Freight or Post Tool or the like and get a mechanic's stethescope. You'll find it in five minutes.

Sounds like possibly a bearing: water pump, ps pump, alternator, idler pulley. Also look for belt rubbing on a cam belt cover.

I just got a new alternator so its not that, i also got a new battery (old one died  )

When i get home from work today i will see if i can get any more info. on it, it sounds like its the belt that is right next to the engine coolant, i dunno i just hope it goes away LOL, but i dont think its the PS pump

It is definetly coming from the belt that is right next to the engine coolant in the 2g n/a cars, please please help me figure this out it is really annoying.

You only hear it when the car is idling, when u accelerate it stops, to the point i cant hear it (but it could be that my loud as #### exhaust is droning it out:D )

Whatever u can help me wit ill appreciate, thanks
