whenever i have the clutch in and go to put the car into first gear right after it has been moving it grinds. what is that? bad synchros?

They will be soon with that kind of treatment. The gears are still "coasting" inside the box, and there's a fair bit of weight you're asking a small bit of brake to get to stop. Get in the habit of "snubbing" against second before slipping into first, its synchro is stronger and will more effectively stop the cluster's spinning. Changing out your transmission fluid with BG, Pennzoil Synchromesh or Redline is also recommended, as their friction modifiers allow the synchros to work more effectively.Originally posted by TalonBlitz00
