My girlfriend started her car one evening and went back inside her house to finish getting ready. When she came back out her car was off. She called me up and said that she thinks her battery is dead. She had stated that the battery light was on. I think ok.. no big deal. I go over there and the battery light is on... when she has the key in acc.
I try to start the car to see what it was doing. It was turning but not firing... Some times it wanted to but it never would. First thing I think of is it may be her fuel. I cut that conclusion short after remembering how rich the car was running. Also one time tried starting it the car backfired. So I know it is getting fuel. I check the wires, spark plugs and igntion coils they all seem to be doing fine.
Next thing I notice is a winding noise coming from the timing belt. I also remembered that the car was idle was fluxuating very bad when it was running. So I had my girl take off the timing belt cover one day and make sure the timing belt is still on and tight. Well she said it was still on but she did not check if it was tight.
Anyone know what this sounds like? The car is a 91 Eagle Talon ESi converted to a 4G63T.
