hello there, anyone who wants to anser this question plz feel free.

okay, heres the deal. my car throws me back in the seat when i first start driving it (right after starting it up and its still cold) after it gets all warmed up say, about 10 minutes of driving, i get a noticeable power loss, where the car just doesnt pull harder. now, is this just because my aluminized 2.5" steel upper and lower ic piping on my stock smic gets a little heated and therefore the air is just hotter and causing my power loss, or should i look to something else? plz give me an answer asap please. thanks, charles

First off....dont ever boost your car when you first start it up. For one thing it tells you on the driver side sun visor. Second, the reason for it is for the engine protection. They dont put it there to take up room on the car. If you boost when your cars cold you endanger your head gasket from beaing warped or and anything like that.

WHat i would do now....grab a compression checker let the car warm all the way up. If you get reading below 145. Thats your power loss. If you get higher readings like 150+ then thank the lord for not screwing you and dont boost when its cold.....then you can move on and fix the problem

From looking at your list, you might be getting up there with the smic. My problem is probably worst than yours. My next mod will be fmic and that should take care for the Heat Soak.

well, i actually dont have adriver side visor, LOL, but good point.
how long should i let it run before boosting? i did kinda figure that i should let it warm up i little first. i usually wait about 3 minutes or so before taking off when i first start it up, but have just taken right off and boosted before. also, it seems to be holding boost okay according to my guage, but if i had a slight leak, like, if my rubber couplers on my ic piping started to leak after getting warm, could that be the case since my ecu would give too much fuel if the air leaked out somewhere after the mass? sorry so long and i will definetly get that compression test and by the way, if its low and my cylinder walls seem in good shape when i look at them, could i just throw some new rings on my pistons and call it good? and answers will be much appreciated

A basic observation... drive the car, that's what was intended. Stop looking at the boost gauge, the turbo is not a must use getting from one traffic light to the next. I don't know if when you boost you are looking to burry the needle or just any positive number. If you feel you have to play then take some baby steps first.

Do your compression check, then we can sort out other symptoms.

Cheers,
GTM

Let it warm up to running temp. The reason why you need to warm it up is that when things are hott they have a little more give to them.....some mercy. When its cold your forcing very very very very dense air into a stone cold block....CRACK! or anything could happen.

Running temp, a little less than middle of the temp guage.

Well if you want anyoneto answer so here i go you need to chack your Flux Capacitor you need at least twenty five Jig-a-watts to travel thrgouh time Everyone knows that.

WTF LMFAO

DO NOT BOOST YOUR CAR UNTIL IT HAS REACHED NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE (WATER TEMP. ON YOUR DASH).

Start the car, idle it for a minute or two, drive it SLOWWWLY (NO BOOST!), until it warms up. THEN you can boost. I doom the motor for excessive wear at this point...

Let me guess, blue smoke comes out of your tailpipe everytime you start up your car?

haha, i thought it was 21 jigawatts....

in answer to the question, i personally don't know the answer but i've seen several threads like this one when i was searching for the answer to my own car's problem, maybe your answer lies in one of those threads..gl :thumb:

HEre is my two cents..... WHen you first start your car it runs on open loop ecu commands.....this is where the ecu doesnt use sensor values to determine the way the engine runs.....it uses predetermined commands until the engine is warm.....WHen the engine is warm the ecu switches to closed loop which means it uses the sensors to determine proper running commands..... My bet is, if you replace your 02 sensor you will be ok :) I like to ramble

LEt me know if I am right please....

well......... its actually 1.21 gigawatts!!! LOL. anyways, that motor has been out of my car for a very long time now. it was smoking like hell in between shifts and the cylinder with the highest compression on the thing yielded all of 110psi, with the rest at 90 something or so. so, yeah, the motor was crap and perhaps i had a hand in it too but have long since learned my lesson.....full warm up before driving, and 3 minutes or so of turbo cool down before shut off (until i get a turbo timer) anyways, anyone have a rear driverside axle they could sell me, or trade a 3 bolt rear diff for? i broke two of these recently and havent been able to find a replacement. ahhhh, time for the 4 bolt swap and for me to learn to slip that damn 2600 more when launching too LOL.
thanks for the replies guys.
