I have been noticing a sound coming from the tranny area. I have never heard clutch chatter before so I am not sure if this is or not. It sorta sounds like ch-ga ch-ga ch-ga ch-ga...when I press in the clutch it goes away completely. The car seems to shift fine even during hard shifts at over 6k rpm. It does grind a bit going from 4th-5th gear. The person I bought it from said it had fairly new clutch but did not remember if the tob was new or not. Could this be the problem? The sound is not really noticeable in the car but with the hood open and at idle it is very noticeable. I am planning on changing the fluid very soon. Thanks for the help.

I don't think there is enough here to give much of an answer.

You could check the harmonic balancer though that would suggest crankwalk. Changing clutch fluid won't fix this, though a clutch adjustment might if it's the TOB dragging on the fingers.

Cheers,
