hey all
i know that a mercury cougar is no where near a dsm... but i figured i'd ask anyway :p besides, what's the difference between an import and a domestic? :p
anywho.. if anyone can help, that'd be cool
all of a sudden my friends blinkers (all 4.. plus dash) stopped working. the only brake light that works is the high one in the rear window... hazards don't work either, not suprizingly
the break lights and parking lights work dimmly when the headlights are on... like they are supposed to. but when you step on the break the second coil in the bulb doesn't light up. i checked with a multimeter and there's no voltage going to the contacts that would light the break lights.
we've checked every single fuse and replaced the bulbs..
the only thing i can think of is that maybe whatever causes the blinkers to blink (is that the ecu or something seperate?) is burned out...
anyway.. just figured someone might have an idea
thanks a lot guys

Check the brake light switch, either on the master cylinder or on the brake pedal arm.

LOL, yep :D

Check the brake light switch, either on the master cylinder or on the brake pedal arm.

you think that would affect the blinkers?
i quickly checked the switch.. guess i'll take another looksie

heh, no.. hasn't been crashed
his rear lights are one bulb with 2 filaments.. the running filament works, the brake filament does not.. no voltage to it.
i have not yet been able to get in touch with my friend... should be able to saturday.. but i havn't been able to check the switch again yet.
