Well I just finished putting the new gaskets on, replacing the plugs and wires, and cleaned and oiled the filter... just as i was putting the cover on for the filter, the last step, while i'm pushing the intercooler's pipe to the side, it breaks off!
So i notice that its not rust, but corrosion. there's white powder all over the place and the pipe had burned away... I'm glad i noticed this because i was about to install the radiator from my parts car on, because the other one has been disinigrating at a worrying pace... and i noticed the temp was up in the car, so i knew something was up...
and currently i cant get the damn 3rd screw off to take the intercooler off, i am so damn pissed right now. I am working in 23 degree ferinheit weather by the way...
how should i go about breaking that stupid screw off, cause there's no way i can untighten it. Blow torch?
I have a very limited amount of room under the car, so this is really, really bad for me. Is there any point keeping the old intercooler in case i want to drive my parts car one day? It corroded through about 2 inches below the bottom of the hose going to the TB ( actually, pretty much flush with the frame surrounding the pipe if you've looked down there)
Main question is how would i have gotten condensation inside to do this to my car?
A mechanic told me to check the rad cap, but other than that?
Last question, why did i buy this car again?
thanks
