Alright well i have been having some alternator issues and i cant quite figure them out. first off i have been through 3 auto zone alternators and now i just put in a new stock one. after i put it in my car ran kinda funny at idle and so i looked in the engine to see if anything looked out of place and i saw that the 100 amp fuse was blown. so i went out to the parts store and bought a new one and tried the following:
1. disconnect the negative..put in the fuse and re connect the negative and it would spark...blow the fuse.
2. disconnect the positive...put in fuse and reconnect the positive..big spark..blown fuse.
3. leave the battery connected and put fuse in...fuse sparks
i cant figure out what is going on...is there something really obvious that im not seeing with the process of replacing the new fuse.
am i just not disconnecting the right wires or something because every one i talked to said that it shouldnt spark that much when you put it back on.
please help i need to figure this out soon
