I bought an impact driver. I'm sure you know what that is, but if not, here goes... You put a philips head bit in the end of it, and it's designed to spin the philips bit when you hit it with a hammer, whala, out comes the screw.
If it's all stripped to hell, then I'd say buy a screw extractor like the one Bob Villa advocates, i think it's made be Craftsman, so any Sears in the lower 48 should have what you need. you also need to buy a new screw from Mitsu, just tell them it's the screw that holds the oil pump cover onto the back of the front case....
I had a hell of time getting the damn castlated plug cover off of the front case, I had to order the special tool from Miller Tools... $15 bucks later and a little force, and it was off.... I'd recommend putting the front case in a vise via the rear balance shaft and use a piece of wood jammed between the case and the vise to couter-act your loosening of the plug if you havn't gotten that far yet.... let me know if you need more help.... I can get you the part number for the castlated socket.... I just did mine this weekend.... worked sweet :thumb:

I used a screw extractor. It didn't come off easily since the screw is weak sauce, but I eventually got it out. Also, I recommend getting a different screw to replace it. A local bolt shop had a replacement for it that was of a stronger grade and an allen instead of the stupid phillips thats on there.
