How did ya'll re-wire your fuel pumps? I already relocated my battery to the back of my car and I was woundering, could I just take the Positive on the fuel pump, clip it, splice in 10G and run it to the battery with a switch for my on/off. would that work and would that eliminate the fuel cut around 16...17lbs of boost?

if wrong, whats the proper way?

Thanks, Chad

For safety reasons you should continue to let the ECU control turning the fuel pump on and off by using a relay triggered by the old power line. You can add a switch to the new power line for security reasons but don't hardware the pump. The ECU turns off the pump when the engine isn't running to reduce the risk of feeding a fire.
Second fuel cut has nothing to do with the pump. It's caused by the ECU seeing too much airflow fo what it's thinks is safe for the engine. At that point the ECU stops firing the injectors, cutting fuel.

hey steve i just did the rewire from the vfaq, that way its still controled by the ecu? right.
anyhow, i just did it total cost of 30 bucks including the solder and tax. and i must add WOW :D big difference, should be one of the first things you do. for the money and power gain, you cant beet it.
here check this out more fyi,

dont forget, now youre running constant 14 volts instead of 12 and 14 so that means = more gas, youll notice that right away too.

As long as your using the old power wire to switch the relay then the ECU is still in the loop and controlling the operation of the fuel pump.

What Chad proposed was hotwiring the pump directly to the battery with an switch to control it. That would be unwise, unless I misunderstood what he was asking.

okay thanks, yeah i just re read what i did in vfaq and it does still us the original power in the relay, good deal.
