ok guys this may be a little long but I need you to get the whole pic here...here is what is happening. a couple of weeks ago my check engine light comes on, so I pull out my logger to see what is was. it came up as knock sensor, so I purchased a new one. put it in the car and erased the code. I let the car idle for a couple of mins and bam check engine lights comes back on, it was the dam knock sensor again. I couldn't fix it right away cause the car was going to j. shepherd to get my tranny rebuilt. so I got the car back I decided to try and fix the sensor. so today I pulled out the sensor, cleaned it off as well as the block thinking it wasn't grounding good(did a seach and seen what might be my problem). put it back in and same thing happens. "CHECK ENGINE" so I look at the logger and there was "0" knock. so my question is if there is "0" knock y is it coming up knock.
I am going to test to see if there is a short in the line...if there is, I am running new wires. ..would they go back to the same places, pin 9 for detonation sensor (knock) and pin 17 for sensors ground.

Solution
well i checked the wiring to the ecu and there is was...the line was broken...must have come off when i took the ecu out to get the cap's replaced and the EPROM socketed...only other problem i have now is i broke the connector trying to get the old wire off...i tried to use a different kind of connector but it didn't work..seems not to be the same length as the one to the ecu...
yea, the same pins,

there is a pin diagram on vfaq.
mabye the knock cirucuit on your ecu is bad, or ecu problmes.
have you checked your ecu?

UPDATE!!!!! well got the car back together, used another connector to rewire the knock sensor back to the ECU....and here's the best part dam dealer sold me the wrong sensor..i had one for a 2g, took it back and got the right one and installed it and no check engine light...yaaaaaa...only problem know is the car is back firing like crazy..i rev it up to bout 4 grand and band band...i am wondering could the lack of a knock sensor have pulled the timing?????at idle i read 7 to 11 counts...or am i running to rich????

mabye you are rich.
check your base timing.

if you have a hayes manual it shows how.

ground the timing adjustment plug, get a timing gun or logger, and turn the CAS until it hits 5o tdc, or is it 8.. hmm...

but make sure you groung that pin,

vfaq has nore onit, or do a search here.

but basetiming is the thing to check next.
other than plugs and wires

you may just want to disconnect your battery for awhile and make the computer have to "relearn" everything. If the computer thought that you had knock, it would keep trying to retard the timing to get rid of the knock, and since it couldnt, your dtc was set.
