So my buddy is looking to pick up a TSI… there is one not to far… in “decent” condition but it wont start… the guy said it was working fine… until one day he was coming to a stop and couldn’t pull it out of gear …. when finally pulled it out of gear ….. he couldn’t get it back into gear… then I guess he pushed it off the road and shut it off … and since then it wont start… you can hear the solenoid… or the starter motor trying to turn the fly wheel …. But that’s it …. Not knowing about the shifting problem I thought the switch on the clutch could have been bad …. The guy said it didn’t seem to push down far enough … or some thing… so I pulled the wire off the switch …. It didn’t make a difference … and then the fella sprung the storey of the “horrible stuck shifter” …. What do you guys think it would be??? And suggestions ??

-Is it a 5 speed?.... do you have spark? ....gas? ....timing ok?....does it turn over?.... pull what wire?....

sorry i pulled the wire that goes to the switch on the clutch.... i got it from vfaq.... i thought that the switch was bad .... and it wont roll over at all ... timing and spark i'm assuming are fine cuz it ran till it got to this problem ... i let the baterie charge for quite some time and it wouldn't turn ... so its not that ....

I think my clutch switch might be bad. I got my ECU modified with the clutchcut mod/stutterbox, etc (go to www.tmo.com for info). However, now the computer won't allow my car to rev past 5750 (clutchcut rpm). I'm about to test the switch with an OHM meter here in a second.
