rough idle in mornings getting colder

man now that the weather has changed ,my car is harder to keep startded untill it warms up.rough idle like its choking a little .i can push the gas and it revs up fine ,and i just changed the spark plugs ..

1g, w/16g,dowpipe and exhaust . boost of 10lbs.stock pump (thats why boost low for now )after it warms up runs fine except some idle surging 1000 to 1500 // and ideas thanks alot

well i have a 96 talon and it does the same thing....i know many ppl that have talons or eclipses that have rough ass idles in the morning....all it does is sit all nite and make the block sumtimes ever colder then the air temp.....its just like on diesel trucks....they use block heaters during the colder season nights....maybe if u invest in one that would solve ur problem

i dont reeally think its that .could be electrically and when its cold at night it messes it up till it warms up to get a good reading or something .i dont think they make block heaters for car .

yep same problem here too, no idea what to do about it. How much do block heaters cost?

There is a cold idle air valve [not the official name!] that is supposed to let more air in [bypassing the throttle plate] when the engine temp is cold. Its function is to raise the idle until the car warms up. It could be faulty. Also a gazillion other things could be wrong, such as a filthy throttle body assembly, or aging parts [wires, even rings or valves]... who knows!!
HEY OUT THERE IN DSM-LAND --- DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS COLD IDLE STUFF!!

I have the same problem. I have new battery, Altenator, Plugs and Wires and i am still getting it. Interesting to say the least. I just come to the conclusion that there are certain things on DSM's that you just have to live with and this maybe one of those things.

I'd like to learn more about what this cold idle air valve is.

im begining to think the same think .im goingto try and clean out my thottle body and check for vaacum leaks.. thaks alot guys

mine does it when i first start it up, then its fine, kinda clunks. but its been like 6 degrees out here. :thumbdown
