I don't know the first thing about cars, so bare with me. I just got a 95 Eclipse GS Auto 2 days ago. Car is in nice shape and only has 71,000 miles. When i turn the car on and let it idle, the fan sounds pretty loud, and only the right side is spinning. Is that normal OMG
 
I think it works the same as my '91.
The passenger side fan goes on when the temperature sensor says it should [when coolant gets hot, like if standing still for awhile]. The driver's side fan will go on only when the A/C is turned on.
Yes, the fan is a bit loud!!!!... sort of a low roar.
