98 GSX,
just installed 14 tubro been running fine for about 2 weeks, while driving car fell on its face, almost lik eit did when i blew my t-25, only no bang or poof, no cloud of smoke, just when u press the gas nothin, car starts to die, rolled into parking lot and car died, turned it back on, idle rela bad, press the gas car dies, couple time sof this car revs up sounds as if bov goin off, smoke out the exhaust and does not rev past 5k... all hoses seem secure, oil is new, all cylinders firing, when reved up stays reved up alil too long, backfire from exhaust.. no leaks of any kind, temp is normal, no oil pressure been like that for a long time??? any opinions... need to get it runnin good again, got some cash to fix it and want it done the right way first.. thanx guys!!!

check your idle air control valve or your tps throttle positioning sensor. your tb mit need to be cleaned also just get a can of carb cleaner and a old tooth bruch not a steel brush you could have some slug in there from when your other turbo went so try that hop it helps . know how it feels :thumb:

oh yeah also have had the check engine light on for ver a year now w/ the tps code, replaced it and code still there, also my speedo gauge hasn't worked since i broke the housing replacing my first clutch, miles didn't go up so i haven't fixed it, but the tps code has always been there, i'm thinking maybe my timing jumped, would thta cause it to domy symptoms?

ok if you have a check engione light, pull codes and then repair the problem without clearing codes then youll most likely still have the problem. is the light still on?? if so clear the codes with a logger or disconnect the batt. for 10 mins or so and see how do from there.

ok i work at a dealership i am a mechanic, i know how to check for codes and clear them i did that and every time the light comes back on, mostly cause of my speedo, light has been on for over a year cause of that. no need ot fix it right now, but will check the codes again soon see if anythin gelse has come up:thumb:

didnt know you were a mech...I am too but I work for ford:( ....by the way I have the same problem with my o2 sensor kicking the light on...and Ive replaced both sensors and it is really bothering me:mad:

wish i could help some more...but Im better at diagnoseing in person.

there has too be too much fuel cause of the black smoke andbogging, im assuming maybe my lower intercoler pipe has come loo0se or leaking badly because of how it was stretched to fit for my 14b, will check that and possibly replace w/ better non flex hose till iget my piping, but otherwise open to any other suggestions

Check boost leaks, and maybe a malfunctioning EGR valve. That caused similar problems for me.

yeah was thinkin egr myself gonna check everything tomorrow after work, whats the best way to check boost leaks anyone know?? never did it.. also i have had battery problems as of late and it would cut in and out, tightened connection on positive terminal and fixed it, hopefully theres no prb there.

well the way I check for leaks its to listen to the car for hissing or air noise...after that I check all my hoses. Kinda tedious but you cant be too safe with a dsm, youve been on longer than me so you should know that it may be in vfaq, but anyways good luck

bwahahahaha, i kinda figured, but i have checked all hoses from above they all seemed secure, my car is lower'd alot so i couldn't get under it till today, looked underneath and sure enough lower intercooler hose to turbo is half way off... from above looked secure, so stupid.. if its not something stupid, its something huge right.. LOL my piping is stretched do to the 14b swap and outlet on top of turbo so i will secure it today after work and look into piping real soon, like tomorrow.. will respond again after work make sure thats the problem.. thanx for all the help guys

yup yup, def was the piping popped out, while i was working down there i took out my intercooler and lceaned it out from the oil that was left from my blown t2small.. glad to have it back, gettin my gauge pod tomorrow so i can turn up the boost, more boost.. more problems...outstanding
