Well i have been working on my car latly, 1g Head and intake manni. Well got all that working including customized lower rad hose. Today i started the car up and it was making this metal on metal sound like it has for the past couple days at bout 2.5 to 3k rpms and up. This time upon hitting bout 4k rpm it make this real hear shreak sound then it killed the engine. Tryed to start it and the engine was real hisitant on turning over but tryed its best.

Anyone have any idea on this??

if it was the harmonic balancer then it should atleast turn over like it normally does. I Also checked the Harmonic balancer out before i put it on there and seemed fine. My dad is thinking i might have spun a rod bearing.

Sounds more like timing belt. Tensioner pulley, or idler pulley would make that sound. Could also be a balance shaft bearing (again, check timing belt). If you spun a rod bearing, it normally wouldn't have made a hollow knocking sound (like tapping on the inside of the block with a hammer) until the end cap bolts gave out. No squeaking involved there.

If your valve timing is compromised, you know what that means.
