at stop lights i have alot of white smoke coming out of my tailpipe,.. i have pretty good idea of what it is,.. anybody know if weak piston rings can cause that?? the head gasket is metal (guess i could check that out as well) already changed the turbo and all exhaust gaskets. i was leaking a little bit oil from my oil pan but i fixed that 2 weeks ago. i also just upgraded to a race core FM, and my side mount and all the intercooler hoses had oil in them. i figured a new turbo would solve the problem but its still smoking. is the next step internals:confused:
 
If the little quote in your sig is hinting at how the car is treated, I would guess head gasket, or overworked/blown 16g.
 
not at all,.. the car is treated better than most, trust me. the last time i went to the track this supposed dsm guru told me that my 16g would never hit 30 psi no matter what i did. (he put 50 dollars on it) i was running 110 octane and the car wasnt leaning out at all so i turned it up just for the trip home and to prove him wrong. it held 33psi all the way through 6700 with the egt stuck on 1600. dont get me wrong, the head gasket has taken a beating from the previuos owner, but he assured me its tough enough. he actually suggested that i go back to a stock head gasket cuz the one im running now is way to thick. anyway, i have arp head studs, last weekend i retorqued the head to 71 foot lbs. also when i put that real thick 'smoke away' oil in the car it stops smoking for a little while. and my compression on #1 is at 95 so....... guess i have to decided on just replacing rings or doing pistons, rods the hole nine,.. money is definatley an issue.
