I came across this problem this morning. The car was already running for about 1/2 hr (so it was warm) when I went to punch it in second and all I heard was the turbo spool up, A/F guage went way green (rich) but the car seemed to bog and hesitate. Seemed like really bad turbo lag. I'm using NGK plugs that are a month old, so I doubt it's the plugs. I wonder if my Apexi FMIC has something do with the fact that it was about 5C outside? Could I be getting too much cold air? I know my clutch is on it's last legs, but I do know how a slipping clutch feels (revs go up, car goes no where). So I don't think it's my clutch.

How can one tell or what are the symptoms of a cracked or cooked turbo? Symptoms of a (minor) cracked exhaust manifold? Just asking cause I've noticed my exhaust tone getting quite a bit louder all of a sudden. I've checked the whole system for leaks (RSR turbo back - no cat - 5 months old) and came up with nothing. I'm just wondering if the bogging from this morning might have been related to my change in exhaust tone?

Any ideas on what my problem is? I'm still running a T-25
Thanks

Check for a boost leak. I had the same problem. mine was leaking from the turbo outlet gasket.

No such thing as "too much" cold air (until you start hitting fuel cut). I'd say it sounded almost like fuel cut, except that you said you were running rich.

Sounds also exactly like what would happen with a big intake leak. To check, you'll need to make up an intake leak tester and see what you can find.

Good luck!

my 1990 did that when i put the 16g turbo in it. with more boost or air flow cause a higher pressure whirl wind in the combustion cyclinders. .035 was the gap on my spark plug. the spark was being blown out causing the misfire and or bucking. i lowered the gap in the spark plugs to .032 or .031 and it ran smooth like a champ. so try and lower the gap in the spark plugs.

need smaller gap on spark plugs, go to clubdsm.com and search for it. it will tell you there about the spark plug gap and the problem you are having, that is where i found out about it. and it worked.:thumb:

The archive searcher on clubdsm.com is down, not only that but the archive link on thier website is inaccessible as well. Can someone enlighten me as to what the problem is with the spark plugs, why it is occuring and and small the gap is supposed to be?
