Allright guys, heres whats goin on. I recently snapped a timing belt, so i took it to "A"mechanic and he replaced it for me. Along with alternator belt, all new hoses, and a new water pump. And since then i have had problems with my car. 1. My car sounds like it is going to blow up at around 3grand, its a pretty loud vibration, and im afraid to push my car, it sounds like my exhaust wants to fall off. 2. My car has a pretty weird idle, its different all the time, sometimes it idles at 600, sometimes 1000, sometimes 1500 grand, i just gave it a dose of the carb cleaner you put in your gas tank, thinking maybe itll clean my injectors cause i had a ticking too. 3. In about 3rd gear as im reving it up to shift into 4th, i my RPMs jump up an down. I usually shift at 3grand, but as im reving it, it they go from like 3500, to 3000 and then they go where theyr supposed to, and my car sucks, it has no pick up anymore. Any input, greatly appreciated!!! Thankyou

from what I gathered from your post...

Your timing belt snapped, so the mechanic just replaced the timing belt.? You said nothing about him checking the valves and pistons for damage... The horrible sound you could be hearing is the already bent valves smacking your pistons / walls of the head, further damaging the already damaged head....

i'm having the same problem...(well not as bad)... i just recently changed my water pump and lined up everything.... now when i drive my car it rattles/vibrates at about 3.5-4k rpm... my idle is fine... so do you think my valves are messed up or something else?

My valves were fine, my head aint damaged, thank god. I have no idea what the hell is wrong with it, im about to sell tha P.O.S.

i thought it might have been the balance shafts, anyone know what it'll cost me to get it fixed, or is it something i could do?

you can just cut the balance shaft belt off. i did it to my 93 talon dl and it ran fine with out a belt. i sold it a few months later so i can say what happens in the long run.

would that work on a turbo engine and lets say it wasnt the case, would cutting the belt off do anything in the end, working proporly or not?
my car vibrates, i'll do the suspention soon but i want to know for "just in case" purposes

You hear of N/T guys doing this all the time - but I'd love to hear a first hand story from someone who did it on a Turbo motor - my guess is that it would rattle till it wore out the motor mounts...

:( :( :(
Did that back in the day, when I first bought my car, and was having all kinds of problems with the car.. (Balance shaft eliminated properly now..)

Let's just say, I had to replace 3 of my 4 motor mounts.
