Hey guys. My gas tank was leaking gas perfusely. I looked at the fuel pump side and one of the nuts was not there and that is where it was leaking from so I removed one of the other nuts and moved it to the leaking side of the fuel pump and it stopped leaking. Anyway, I found the missing nut in my backseat, and as I was installing it, the stud broke off..... Is there an easy way of dealing with this? I don't think its going to leak with this missing stud but I don't want to be surprised by a fire in my backseat.

If none of the above will work, can a shop like Pepboys fix it without replacing the entire gas tank? I refuse to drive a car that maybe leaking fuel. Hehe

Thanks, let me know. I am just looking for the easiest method that will do the job.

I found that there is no solution besides taking the gas tank out to either replace it or repair it. Either way it needs to come off because no one is gonna be messing around with a gas tank full of gasoline. Maybe if you find a shop that has a machine that can completely drain the gas tank, they might be able to rethread the gas tank but I don't think you'll find a place like that easily.
