Electrical Problem

Something's wrong with my car. the battery light and the brake light stay on, but the check engine light isn't on. the problem is when i start the car, everything is ok, but when it goes over 1000 rpm, the stereo shuts off. but then it comes back on at idle. it didnt do this before, until after i cleaned it out the other day with the stereo on. after that its been messed up. and now the amp doesnt work, and its overheating. what is wrong with my car??? ohhh, its a 97 gst.

you have a short somewhere. Check all your power lead wires for getting wear and or bare metal.
