No spark..........

1992 Laser 1.8 manual.......

The car gets air and gas, but no spark............If i simply buy a new alternator will i have spark?????????/ plugs are new and properly gapped and new wires also...... Im pretty sure my timing is messed up also but i dont thing that my timing being off would cause the spark problem would it?

Alternator will do nothing for your spark.

How do you know the timing is off?

True, check your base timing. If all you did was change plugs and wires, then that shouldnt be the case. Check your plugs for spark and make sure you plugged the wires in properly to the coilpack. Cylinders 1 and 4 go in the first two plugs, and 2 and 3 go in the last two plugs.

Alternator......oops I was thinking distributor....................anyhow I know the timing is off cause i replaced the headgasket and had the head cylinder machined........the timing belt surely slipped a lil..................newbie mistake( im a newbie). but i do have a new ALT and battery...... Im wondering if the timing being off does prevent spark?????

Derek: I have a chiltons manual but i dont really get which plugs go where........ the diagram can be misinterpreted easily ......

From drivers seat my plugs are 1 3
2 4 Im not sure which are the first and last the way youve discribed being the the cap is circular.........
