A lil bit of oil...

ok so me and my bud went out for a drive...and long story short...my car was giving off a lil smoke when we got back.

i assumed cause it was hot, and it was kinda cool in the air. but when i popped my hood, there was some oil leaking from the valve cover...it wasnt that bad looking, but noticeable.

ne suggestions??

it drove the same, and my oil level is still reg. so plz gimme some help here...thnx

This worked for me when I had oil leaking from my valve cover. Buy a new valve cover gasket, costs like $10. Buy some silicon in a tube. Take off your valve cover, throw away the old gasket. Clean up the valve cover thoroughly as well as the head where the gasket goes. Then, spread silicon where the valve cover meets the head, on both sides of the gasket. After I did this, no oil leaks at all from the valve cover.

You looked at this in the dark correct? More than likely your dipstick popped up and sprayed some oil, this happens under hard driving as more crankcase pressure is being created.

Remember not to tighten down the valve cover too much, or you WILL crack it. Just make it snug.

Any way to make the dipstick not come out so much? Mine pops up all the time and makes a nice mess of the engine/hood/fenders.

take a pair of plyers and pinch the whole the stick goes into so its an oval shape to make the dipstick a little tighter in there. Thats what i did and it worked perfect.

Actually, it only spilled once when i first got the car, in which twisted until i recieved a desired lock. It only spilled again recently after changing oil.
