Car wont start!Please Help!

i would appreciate it if anyone could help me in any way possible.heres my story.a guy that lives down the street from me gave me a 1990 plymouth laser for free cause it didnt run and he didnt wanna mess with it.its a 1.8 with an auto tranny.the only thing he could tell me was that he was driving it and it just shut off on him.i figured out that the fuel pump had no power going to it so i messed around a little bit and made my own way for it to get power so i try and start the car and it just cranks and then on occasion it seems like it wants to start for like half a second then doesent.i would appreciate it if anyone could help with my power problem to my fuel pump and any possible solutions as to starting the car.thank you for your time and effort.My email address is [email protected].

could be a dead starter or battery, i just needed to replace my battery wouldnt start in cold mornings

I still think it sounds like a fuel issue. Disconnect the fuel line going to the fuel rail and crank the engine over. If you see fuel coming out the line you know it's getting fuel and can move on to spark. If you have fuel and you have spark might want to move on to checking compression. Good luck.
