Just installed a 14b that was in very nice shape, and pulled very hard on the 1993 that it was taken from. I got a 2g install kit, and the oil return line and hooked it all up. In the process, I changed my oil, changed oil filter and added coolant. I checked all over for leaks and there are none.

My problem: I took the car out for a drive, and set the boost to 13psi. The car spools up around 4000rpm, and peaks at 15, drops to 13. only problem is, my car feels slow as shit. When I hit boost, I do not feel it at all. it sucks! I do not know what could be happening because the turbo was kept in great shape, there are no fluids leaking, and the car is boosting.

If anyone has any ideas at all please let me know.

Thanks a lot,

For one, your not running enough boost! Try 16psi and datalog the car, do a fuel pump rewire and you might be ok. I hope you have a upgraded bov and pipe, or your not going to reap the benefits of the turbo. I ran one for a little while, and they spool slow, but the top end is what improves, bottom end blows!

Boost leak is very possible, which is why I didnt want to turn up the boost. I didnt want to overwork the turbo. I will check for leaks today.

I have greddy type-S, and I plan to order hard UIP soon. I also have a 2.5" O2 elim on the way, which should decrease spool time.

Thanks for the responses! Ill let you know how it goes.

Your stock BOV is opening. AKA Boost leak. To hear it better, vent the BOV. If it is indeed the BOV, you'll hear it out of the BOV when its vented.

A few things were making it slow. Yes, I was leaking boost. Gasket trouble where turbo connects to J-pipe, and I tightened up BOV a bit and its cool. Second, the line to stock boost sensor got cut in fan, leaking some boost :( Thirdly, I was half expecting it to pull as hard as all the other cars I rode in with 14bs (all of them were AWD) so of course it isnt gonna be that strong, but I am very satisfied now.

Thanks to all with the quick responses. I just needa get camber kit on, new tires, and take it to the track to see some numbers.

later,

i hit full boost (17psi) at 3k rpm and my car pulls insanely hard, enough to eat most v8 domestics from a roll, and has wicked top end, i love my 14b, and for people on a budget, its the best, good thing ya got that fixed scrym, and get that camber kit i sold you on there too... btw, how much did you pay for those 2Gb GSX wheels?
