trying to get some opinions before i go wasting a saturday thinking
here's what has been checked
just changed the head gasket with a mitsu mls & arp's
rebuilt head, 0 miles & it was surfaced
block surface was very clean
used copper gasket spray
timing belt done correctly
all sensors are hooked up
throttle body & ic pipes are sealed properly
compression 155 across the board even after i found the problem
head studs torqued correctly
plugs good, plug wires ok & in correct order
biss screw in tact & throttle body is sealed
tried 2 coils & 2 power modules
there is a leaking injector (the lower insulator) so i haven't been able to run the car much. new insulators & o rings on the way.
here is the problem:
when in neutral i revved the engine & as soon as i hit the throttle, the car bogged (acting like it wants to stall) and then all at once the rpm's go up to 1,500 & then it bogs again. it won't let the idle go past 1,500rpms. it goes up to 1,500 & then drops.
another factor. i let the car warm up (not realizing the gas running down the street) & had the logger hooked up. logger was reading base timing at 15*. (i know it is usually a couple degrees off) would that much timing at idle have this type of effect?
any ideas would be appreciated.
