DSMLink/ Computer Problem

I keep getting an error when trying to use DSMlink. Its the first time I've use it and I get this error message:

Failed: "java.io.IOException: Port currently owned by Unknown Windows Application"

Now I'm an idiot when it comes to computers. Can anyone tell me what to do to fix this?

First of all... What operating system are you using (windows 98/2000/xp)?

You probably have another program running on your computer that is locking the port. Try downloading a small port status detector program from download.com to determine what program is using the port.

I have also had some problems with windows 2000 that it will actually lock all the ports unless you are signed in as an administrator. Make sure you are an administrator on your machine before you run the program again.
