i have an autometer phantom air/fuel gauge, and i dont know if i am reading it properly....

whenever im cruising around, the gauge cycles up and down like its supposed to, but sometimes if a rev freely the guage will light up in sync with the rpms. like if i revved it hard it would go all the way rich and then fall back as the rpms go down, and if i rev to 3-4 it goes 3/4 of the way and falls back. Is this normal?

also, whenver i floor it it goes all the way rich. does this mean im running rich, or is the gauge screwed up?

sorry if its long, and thank you in advance.

i have a autometer gauge to, but i have a ultra series. mine sucks, and is never staying constant even at idle. Try a different one cause i know i am

You're reading it fine. It doesn't read the O2 sensor too well. Actually, that's not really the case, it's more like O2 sensors don't respond very well.

A/F gauges are best thought of as gauge-pod cavity fillers.
