I need help from someone who might work in a brake shop or something along those lines.

I have this funny tapping noise coming from one of my rear brakes. It sounds like ummm, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap... You get the idea. Let me give some background info on when I hear this noise.

If I go out and get into my car and go to leave as I'm driving threw my parking lot I hear it almost as soon as I start moving. If I drive slow the tapping noise is slow. As I speed up the tapping rythem speeds up too.

It does matter if I'm going 5 or 55 miles per hour, its always there.

It seems to be coming from the passanger side rear brake area however sometimes I get it from other tires too.

At first I assumed one of my rotors was warped or something so I replaced both my rear rotors and pads. This didnt fix the problem at all. Infact now its worse then before I put in the new rotors and pads.

I took the car to a friend of mine who works in a brake shop and he he couldnt figure out what it was. He checked all the parts looking for something loose. He seemed to think the caliper was going to be loose but after checking it out said that wasnt it.

Can anyone please help. I dont know what to do.

I almost forgot to tell you that if I turn the wheel to the left a tad well I'm driving down the noise somewhat subsides. If I turn it back towards the passanger side the noise comes back and gets a tad worse. What doesnt make sence though is the tapping is coming from the back not the front so it seems to have nothing to do with the front end and steering.

I put all new CV's on both sides in the front and a new wheel bearing and balljoint in the front passanger side anyway. Not that it would have anything to do with the back end.

Thanks.

I have the same noise...even though mine is FWD..I know exactly what your talking about and it is annoying as a mutha.

It's the wheel bearing..Im pretty sure...jack your rear up and grab the tire and shift it with hands on both sides..see if the wheel has any "shaft play" LOL...seriously though check it out.

We already tried that. No serious play.

I'm pretty sure the sound I hear is the pads tapping on the rotor.

I'm guessing there is some sorta clip or shim missing after talking to other people but I have yet to check it out.
