-Did the timing belt break? if not and the motor was running fine, I don't see why you have to replace the head.

belt didnt break just jumped and got a load top end noise (metal on metal)assuming valve to piston contact
i have not got a chance to open it up to know exactly what is damaged but the belt has a ton of slop between the gears and what im understanding about these motors is when the belt jumps it junks the head and was wondering if anyone has just replaced the belt and any bent valves only reusing the motor and headand what i found searching the timing bel issues on here is that mostly the botom end can be used i just found nothing on the head and whats involved with it(to re-use it)

Just make sure the head itself isn't messed up. I was going to have to get my head decked before I could put it on. When I snapped my timing belt, my valves came up and hit the outer edge of my combustion chamber, and scored that up pretty bad along with some of my valve seats. Be careful, take it to a shop for advice, no one should charge you if you just ask.

-Usually the timing belt broke will only do damage to the valves and the piston, overheating is what kill the head, I had 2 broken timing belt on this head, just replace the valves and guides, resurface the head, give it to a machine shop and they'll know what to do.
