Clutch going out?

I'm assuming my clutch is going out in my 99 GSX. If I'm going down the highway, when I floor it, it jumps up like 1500 RPM really quick and then slowly catches. And when I shift gears of course then press on the gas pedal. But it usually doesn't jump until the turbo starts to spool, any ideas? Clutch, transmission, something else?

This happened to me a few days ago. It slipped in 5th gear on the freeway when i floored it - people say it starts to slip in the high gears first. Ironically enough after a day its running fine and its been over a week without any slipping for me. Sometimes it just got knocked out of alignment. These are some tests. Stall your car on purpose, like put it in gear and let off the clutch - if it JERKS forward kinda hard that means it has strength in it obv. to pull the car like that. Try spinning the wheels a little (LITTLE) if it can do it easily again - it has strength in it. Also when you stall it that one time - sometimes that fixes it because it shakes up the clutch and flywheel and may set it into alignment (this is from experience, not just b.s.) but dont do it more than once or twice. Since that happened its a sign its probably on its WAY out, like i think mine is, but for now its running perfectly - as yours should. Even with it slipping in 5th gear only itll be a long time before it all goes out.

I really notice it in 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th... 1st doesn't slip too much.. It's AWD so I dont really wanna try and burn the tires, but I'll try stalling it once. I probably wont get to replacing the clutch till next summer so no biggy, I was going to park the car next month anyways =). I know the guy that owned the car before me was hard on it, and I've burnt the clutch a few times, and I've ran it hard at the drag strip once. Thanks for your reply, much appreciated!
