92 talon seized???

I went to look at a 92 Talon today and the guy that is selling it said that the balance shaft was bad for what ever reason and he removed it without doing any type of mod. He put it back togeather without the shaft and drove the car untill it just shut off. He pulled the motor out and removed the top end ... the oil pan is still on the block and it will not turn. Any ideas? I was thinking of doing a high end rebuild if I cannot locate an engine for it. It is a 6 of 91 but titled as a 92 AWD auto.

. that guy is just dumb. removing the balance shafts without properly sealing them = oil loss!. of course the engine is seized! what was he thinking?

the oil pump is driven by the rear balance shaft. If he just removed the balance shaft then there would be no oil circulation at all.

I bought the car and I am getting ready to send the block to the machine shop to see if it is savable. Most likely it will need to be punched at least .20 over. So should I do an over sized rebuild or just get a stock replacement?

I say you do like I used to do with old Pontiacs...hook a tractor up to it then pull it around a field. If that doesn't bust her loose move it to the blacktop It might run a little smokey if you get it running though.
