hey all
so the other night i was driving home, and the display on my stereo started flickering.. "wth is this?", i think to myself. so i pull over and screw around until i realize that shutting off the fan (AC was off) made the stereo work fine. just as i realized that i had a problem with my battery, the car died. i had to roll start it to get it home. the next day i bought a nice brand new alternator and battery and replaced each myself. so tonight i am going to a resteraunt and as i enter the parking lot, my stereo starts flickering again.. "oh great".. so when we go to leave the resteraunt.. the battery is dead. i finally find someone to jump me, and as i go home in the dark and pooring rain, i discover that my car shifts a lot as if it wants to die on me... so i shut off everything i can except windshield wipers. i even shut off my headlights and just blinked them when other cars came.. the instrument panel would not light up properly. as i left the parking lot, there was also a lot of belt noise which has been on and off since i bought the car a month ago. when i got home, i checked the belts and they are a little loose, but no where near loose enough so that the alternator shouldn't be working properly. also, on the way home, i did not have power breaks, but i DID have power steering.
here's another note... 5-10 miles before i got to the resteraunt, i noticed that the oil pressure gauge is as low as it can be... so i stopped and looked under the hood for anything unusual, but found nothing.. i figured the guage is acting funny.
btw.. my car is a 94 eclipse 1.8L and it was rebuilt by the people that i bought it from ~1500 miles ago, but these problems have only arisen since i got the car back from the auto shop that i took it to. also, since i got it back from the shop, i have had odd issues with my car alarm which are mentioned in the following thread:

i am now very suspicious that the alarm is not working properly due to the wire that i talked so much about, and maybe it is part of a bigger picture.

by the way.. i mentioned that i replaced the alternator... YES, i do know for a fact that the one i took out was dead.
