New injector problem, need answers

I just put injectors from a '99 gsx into my 92 gs NT 2.0. The car will barely stay running with my foot on the gas and is puffing black smoke. (i dont think its blue - hard to tell). Also needless to say, my plugs are fouled.

Injectors from a 99 gsx are still 450cc correct? What else could be my problem? It's possible one of the new injectors doesnt work, but then whats with the black smoke?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Sounds like you're running way rich. GSX injectors have a different impedance than GS injectors. Did you compensate for that?

well i figured 450cc is 450cc, plus someone told me they would work. How could I compensate for it? I mean I can't change the settings or anything. Would a gsx (at idle) dump that much more fuel into the combustion chamber than a GS?

uhhhh yeah. You need a safc2 to manage the new fuel injectors. the ecu thinks its still your gs injectors, therefor its running the same ratio but at much higher flow, so you running super rich and puffin smoke like no other mother. i suggest unless u got mad shit done to your gs u switch em back...there was no reason u shoudla switched em unless u put a turbo in that bi***.

It's not that the GSX dumps that much more fuel as much as it is the way the electronics vary between the two. If they both are 450cc injectors then they are capable of flowing the same amount. But when 12 volts is applied to one injector, because of it's impedence, it sprays X amount. With an injector with half the impedence, at 12 volts, it now sprays twice as much. Same injector size, same fuel flow capabilities, same voltage going to it, just difference impedence meaning a different injector pulsewidth.
