Car starts but won't rev up?

Last night I was just cruising in my car and all of the sudden is started slowing down and wouldn't accelerate. I pulled over in a parking lot and it will idle but even if I put the gas pedal on the floor it won't rev up at all. What could be the problem?

Id check Fuel filter and Throttle body first......

Well of all things I put some gas in it and it runs fine (my fuel gauge doesn't work). I've never seen a car act like that though, usually they just die.

Thats exactly how mine died when i ran outta gas................. wouldnt have tried to insult you by suggesting that you ran outta gas, but..............
