Well today I figured I'd check all the fuses cause my trunk light wasn't working so I pulled each fuse out checked if it was good plugged them back in, then later on I started the car up and now my SRS light is on. I read other threads about the SRS light coming on. Do you think it just needs reset like the majority of the others solutions were?

If the SRS light is ON then the system is NOT operational. So if you got in an accident Today they WOULD NOT work :(
To clear it you should be able to Pull your Positive and Negative Battery terminals and wait 5 minutes. Then reconnect them, I think that should reset the system. Try that first.

Even with the light on the air bags should work. Its similar to a "cel", even with a "cel" light on your car will run. So your airbags should be ok.

And just disconnecting the battery wont turn the srs light off. You need a special scan tool as the others have already stated.

If the air bag module detects a fault it will not blow the bags. It sets the light on to tell you somthing is wrong and disables all airbags.

Sounds like a battery re-set should work in your case however. Mostly the code is an "Air bag cuircut open" or something along those lines. Touching both positive and negitive battery cables together (while disconnected from the battery) for a minute or so sould re-set your modules. This drains the capaictors and should re-set everything.

+1

Usually when the light is ON all the airbags are DEACTIVATED.

For example if you take out 1 airbag they ALL are shut off.
I do leather interiors for new cars. 90% of seats made now have airbags in them.
You are right that most cars will need a dealer specific scan tool to shut off the light but our srs system is Older. I would just try the battery dissconect first! Its FREE and doesn't hurt to try it :)

Now are you sure you didn't unplug something? there is impact sensors up in the wheel wells. And also that box under the center consol. If ANY part of the SRS system is unplugged you will get the light on and you CANNOT reset it until the problem is corrected.

I would RE-check all your fuses... I bet you put something in the wrong slot and/or missed a fuse. That light should not come on unless you pulled the SRS fuse while the ignition was on. That might cause it to throw that light on.

Im positive i only checked fuses cause my trunk light wasnt working i pulled each one out with the car off checked the wire pluged it back in. thats all then when iw as done i started and it was on.

I know this is an old thread its now 2021,but its still active on a SRS cel on search. Updating some info from my experience with the SRS systems when cel is on SRS System is inactive and something is wrong there are sensors in the trunk in case of rear end collisions. Could be just a coincidence that your SRS light came on after pulling fuses and once you fix the problem with the SRS system the cel will go out, SRS connectors get loose, Wiring gets shorted ,parts where out, just like everything else, Most reputable shops wont charge you to check your SRS System if they do say "My God Man its a Safety Issue. Is that Legal?" Its worked for me before. Once you find out what it is you can get a good used OEM part from your local or online wrecking yard for a fraction of the cost than a Dealership and better than an aftermarket . Good Luck Stay Safe!!

There's an Autel scanner that is able to read and reset the SRS codes. I have verified that it worked on my car.

I have also read that having a low voltage on the battery could trigger the SRS to throw codes.

Yes there are scanners now available for the public that read and reset SRS codes a little pricey though and as far as low voltage goes its very plausible that could set off a SRS code from my experience as I stated before If you have an SRS cel on your dash theres something wrong and once you fix the problem it goes rite away you don't have to even reset it,but your battery should be disconnected while troubledhooting the SRS System anyways unless your running a scan on it.

Hey I'm also having this issue. The car was in a 2 car collision, front and rear, the airbags never deployed though since it wasn't a serious accident. The SRS light also never came on after that. A week later while driving, the SRS light turns on. Any ideas on what may be wrong?

Did your cruise control also stop working at the same time? Most often, the clock spring wears out or rips, making your SRS light come on as well as cruise not working anymore. Check the clock spring first, which is inside the wheel under the bag cover.

After that check the fuses as well. In my case the clock spring had went one day and i lost SRS function as well as cruise. I replaced the clock spring with another used one and the SRS light went off on its own, no scanner needed. During the replacement the battery was completely disconnected of course, both negative and positive terminals off for 1 hour before and after replacement.
