:confused:I recently purchased a 95 eagle talon turbo with a lot of engine work. Yesterday i was driving home from work and it overheated. I get no reading now on my temp guage but its still lit up. The person installed a manual switch inside the car that turns the dual radiator fans off an on. After it overheated i noticed that the fans arent working and is the reason it overheated. I checked the switch and traced the wires all the way and all is good. I need to know what i can do next is there a way to manually test the fans? Will any fuse maybe have blown? i did pull every fuse under the dash and they are all good and the fuses under the hood are the black 12v ones and i dont know how to tell if they are bad. Please help if you have the time anything would be a big help.

Run a wire from the fan straight to the battery. If it turns on double check the relay/fuse/wiring. If it doesn't then most likely the motors are burned, although its very unlikely for both fans to burn out at the same time.

what i did is i got rid of the stock fans and bought a pair of slim fans from advance auto parts and had this place wire them to accesory so that way they are on all the time. car never had a overheat problem again. but if you do decide to get new fans keep the reciept just incase one breaks in the future

when you guys are telling me to wire them dirrectly to the fan what do i need to do unplug the harness and touch a wire from the battery power to the metal prongs inside the harness? Sorry these questions ###### sound stupid but im not really a pro at electrical problems

Ok well i just attempted to do what you guys told me i dont know if it matters but i found some copper wire around the house touched one end to the power side of the battery and the other end to the prongs inside the harness on both harness and i got nothing at all from either one. should i go buy new fans today and try them out? another thing once i do get these fans working again like i said the temp guage does not read anymore and im not sure where i look to make sure the connection is good on that. The car has always ran at a consistent 230 when the fans worked is that ok? do you know any other methods i can use to lower the temp?

No, 230* is on the hot-side of the spectrum. You're going to want to keep it at 210*F or less.

If you're unsure if you properly tested those fans properly, then get some help from a local to be sure if they are non-functional or not. If your fans are toast, then replace them, and wire them up correctly. But if they still work, then I can walk you through on how to wire them to your existing relay.

But first things first - you need to be sure about your fans. I doubt they both just stopped working simultaneously.

Thanx for the help so far man but now im more confused. For the hell of it i decided to turn my ac on and both fans work with the ac on so they cant be bad. Now it gets confusing the switch that used to turn the fans on and off manually now turns off and on the reading on my temp guage. I tightened the bolt on the thermostat housing and now i get a reading although im not sure if its correct. I took it for a spin around the block and it seems like if i get on it the temp guage jumps around and like i said if i turn the switch that used to turn the fans on it shuts off the temp reading and it goes right down to zero. sorry for bothering you but i just bought the car and honestly knew nothing about the wiring so im lost. all i know now is the fans work when the ac is on and the temp guage is reading right around 200 at idle but wants to jump a little when i accelerate hard.

oh and another thing i noticed if i turn the ac to off it also turns my temp reading off. if i run the car with full ac will that also cool the turbo untill i figure out this wiring problem?

Unfortunately, I'm no electrical genius either. I can usually wire something up pretty easily, but I'm not the best at wiring problem diagnosis.

It sounds like the previous owner may have wired the fans to the A/C fan relay instead of the cooling fan relay. I would fix that first. There should be a 4-wire plug somewhere right behind the passenger side headlight. Here's a pic: it's the one on the left. Cut this plug off and connect the Blue-green AND Black wires to the fan's ground wire. Then connect White-black AND White-blue wires to the fan's power wire. This will automatically turn your fans on at 210* everytime, provided that your factory cooling fan relay is properly functioning.

Ditch that switch and the wiring that the previous owner ran himself.

oh and another thing i noticed if i turn the ac to off it also turns my temp reading off. if i run the car with full ac will that also cool the turbo untill i figure out this wiring problem?
Your fans are there to to 'cool' the radiator, not the turbo.
