Over the last 2 weeks or so I have been relocating my gauges from the A-pillar to underneath the radio. I have vac/boost, narrowband lightshow and a voltmeter. The lightshow and voltmeter I had moved 2 weeks ago with no problems.

Today I decided to finally move the boost gauge, so I reran the line, still hooked up the same spot on the fuel pressure solenoid per this http://www.vfaq.com/mods/wayback/BradBauer/gauges/boost.html

At the same time I has also removed my entire aircan/MAF assembly to clean the K&N filter and do a bit more chopping on the aircan. Put everything back and I believe I hooked up everything that was taken off, that being the MAF plug, and the 2 hoses going to the BCS.

The car seems to idle OK and the vacuum numbers are what I was seeing before, about 19in/hg at idle. Didn't take the car into boost as the CEL comes on about 1 1/2 or 2 minutes after starting the car. I pulled into a gas station, shut it down, looked around the engine bay, didn't find anything, started it back up, CEL came on again after 2 minutes, and I drove slowly home. Don't have a logger or anything to check the codes, but I will take it in ASAP tomorrow morning to get read.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Checked the pins on the MAF plug, they all are straight.

I was thinking, I had removed both hoses from the BCS, perhaps I got them mixed up when I put them back. Could the lines being hooked up to the wrong ports on the BCS cause the CEL to be thrown?

Yes it could, dummy test it, switch them around, pull the negative cable to clear the computer and then start the car and drive it for a bit, see if the code is thrown again.

Or save yourself the guess work, go to AutoZone for a free code scan. :thumb:

Yeah thats exactly what I was thinking of doing, but theres been a thunderstorm since this afternoon, and anything around has been closed on account of its sunday . Plan on waking up early tomorrow to try that, and to take it to the shop to have the code pulled if theres no change.

Thanks for the suggestions guys :thumb"

I dont think having the vacuum lines switched would throw a code, I've never had a CEL come on because of the BCS even when i remove it completely, maybe 2g's are different but all the BCS is is an open/close switch, theres no sensor testing to see if it's working properly so no way of the ECU seeing whats going on with it.

I just drove around to nearly every garage in my part of the city, none of them have an analog voltmeter to check the codes, but I was able to rip the voltmeter gauge out of my 74 spitfire, and my mechanic says he might be able to use it to check the code.

Please, please correct me if I am an idiot and not heading in the right direction with this.

I'm sure that in Montreal you can find a 12v LED or 12v piezo buzzer and some microclips.

Heck your just looking in the wrong place for a analog meter.

Unfortunately St-Leonard is 45 km away from where I live through Montreal traffic.

No matter, I was able to read the code with the 30 year old gauge, came out as 21, engine coolant temperature sensor. Had the sensor changed and CEL is gone. Fixed my rough starts as well.

Thanks for the help guys!! :thumb:
