HELP: Verify my timing belts installed correctly

I purchased this car a month ago. I have had this ticking issue with the car and have been going through the possibilities and replacing what I can.

So far:

New Revised Lifters (didn't fix the tick..)
New FP Race Manifold (old one was cracked/leaking)
New oil change w/Lucas oil stabilizer (helped reduce the tick, but its still there..)

I get the tick, which isn't lifter tick, at idle and it increases with RPM. Its not rod knock as I've had it before :).

Datalogging the car it shows 43 knock after cruising 2400rpm + and WOT shows instant 43 knock. Phantom knock I'm sure..

I recently took off the timing belt top cover to make sure the sprockets were set correctly when the timing belt was installed... here is what I found:

Here are mine..



Inner most point on the right side (intake) is on the last visible tooth. Exhaust groove is one tooth too high..

When the grooves "match" as closely as possible, they're no longer the inner-most teeth on the sprockets, they're 1 too high...

Could this be my problem? Thanks in advance :D

yep looks like you get to tear it off and try again make sure you didnt damage the valves that could be the ticking noise you heard. Do a compression test and post the results. that is do it when the timing is correct
 
1 tooth off usually isn't a problem when it comes to damaging valves, but definately something you need to get fixed.

I would look more into the knock, and make sure it is phantom knock like you think.

Did you properly bleed the lifters before installing them?

I would check the oil for any metal shavings, could be a balance shaft bearing, main bearing, or a rod bearing starting to go.

I bled the lifters properly per the vfaq. The noise didn't get any less or any worse after changing the lifters.

The first oil change I did showed no signs of shavings at all, nor did the oil filter. The oil was overfilled, though.
 
maybe..... just maybe....the lifters are new right, what about the cam's lobes being worn with the old lifters does any one think this could also have something to do with the tick... and have funn with the timing took me over three hours to get mine right its a pain!
