hello fellow tuners, i own a 96 tsi awd 5spd, my engine has 140 thousand miles on it but i would like to do an 6 bolt swap, is this possible? the reason im doin this is for fear of the dreaded crankwalk! blah! the engine im getttin is from japan and it has the ecu trans harness pretty much everythin you need for a succesfull swap all for the price of about 2900 including shipping, it states the swap to be for 90 to 93.... please someone lend me some wisdom as to this swap being possible for 2g. thnk you.:talon:

Yes, just search for 6 bolt in a 2g and you will get tons of information. The reason they say it's for a 90-93 was because that's the year they are supposed to go in and what years the 6 bolt came in. Just use the search button and everything will become clear.

I have a 6 bolt in my 2G (Eclipse) It's the engine from a GVR4 with yellow 510 injectors, cyclone intake + ecu, big 16g turbo.
It's quite doable, the search is your best friend.

Of course you will always encounter some problems on the way but basicly it's an easy swap. Just decide beforehand what goals you have for your car so you can get the engine done before you drop it in. (think about clutch for example, belts, etc)

For me there were some decent problems because my car was originally a non-turbo car (european car with a 4G63 non-turbo) and the engine came from a AWD car, but it's all done now and it runs just fine :D

"Its possible offcourse just do some searching. "
i agree but to get you started you have to modify a motor mount, wire in a CAS(cam angle sensor), modify oil pump housing ect.
go to RRE(road race endineering) there site has all of the information that you are loking for.
here are some great links and info.
