I have been having this "pop" noise coming from the front end of my car lately, mostly when the engine torques, like when getting on/off throttle, also feels and sounds like the engine is going to fall out when cruising at low speeds at low rpm.
I checked out all my motor mounts, which are window welded, and even replaced the trans mount, made no difference. Sometimes at idle you can heard a rattle coming from the passenger tranny mount area, but I already changed it!
Suspension checked out ok, nothing feels loose.
Please help! I am stumped this is very annoying!!!

ever check your motor mounts?? it deff sounds like one of them has fell apart.
check the cam side, tranny side, and the support that runs under the tranny. if any of them are ripped or weather cracked i'd just replace them with poly mounts

oh sorry i'm an idiot, i didn't read that you already checked your motor mounts.... in that case, could it maybe be one of your CV joints up front taking a vacation???

Check the flywheel bolts Rich I remember you said before you thought they were loose. Dunno if that could be it though.

this is kinda random but check your ball joints are cars have the goofy setup, the curve control's ball joint tends to fail and cause a clunk, but not sure if its the same kinda noise that your talking about...

Front motor mount was in pretty bad shape, thats what the problem was....I could not see that is was broke until I peeled all the window weld out of it!
Oh yea poly mounts are 10 times better then window weld!

funny enough i'm having the same problem, but to me it sounds like one of the bolts to the mounts are and catching on the threads. I'm going to have to check my mounts now just to be sure. I'm glad I caught this because I was like WTF.

Ironically so am I and I was going nuts trying to figure out wtf it was... I had gotten into a car accident a couple months ago and that's when it start.... sure enough I looked at that front mount and its done for.

The only difference is my car sputters sometimes too, w/e I'll change the front motor mount and see if that takes care of it.
