Hey-

I have a stock 98 Talon FWD AUTO. I've noticed a loud, high pitched whine every time I'm going over 60 mph. only when i hit the gas. I'm hoping it's nothing to do with the tranny but i personally have no idea. It seems like it's getting louder as time goes on.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks again.

Where does the whine come from?
Please verify when it happens too (ONLY 60+ in gear, 60+ in neutral, Parked Neutral free revving)
Just try some different scenarios to narrow it down.

It's coming from the motor... only in gear going over 60 mph. It doesn't make the noise any other time.

have same thing on my talon does it sound like a turbo spooling? people asked me if my talon was turbo when I pass by them on the roads ROFL

I have a problem like this. It sounds like its only coming from the front right wheel though. It only makes the noise sometimes, and once i hit like 60 it goes away. It sounds like something is rubbing on my wheel but i dont know that for sure.

And again it only does this while in gear and while I'm accelerating. And you can tell pitch changes when i accelerate, and when i brake.

It doesn't quite sound like a turbo... and i can't be sure how loud it is outside of the car because it only makes it when at highway speeds. But it also changes pitches like xlshotimelx said.

I'll check into the wheel bearing and let everyone know.

Thanks for the advice and any more would be appreciated.
