Ok, being that I have to replace my timing belt and balance shaft belt, What are the "must do's" While being in this deep ? So far this is what I got :

(1)timing belt
(2)balance shaft belt
(3)water pump

What tensioners, pulleys, etc... should I replace ? I don't want to have to do this again for a long time...
Also, How do you install a balance shaft belt elimination kit ?

For the balance shaft eliminator kit:

http://www.vfaq.com/mods/balance-shafts.html

Check the VFAQ engine section for more comprehensive instructions on the timing belt install along the with engine section under the tech section here on DSMTuners. Also, if you're going to install the eliminator kit, then you don't need a balance shaft belt :thumb:. You should get an OEM (NOT aftermarket) auto tensioner. I'm not sure if you need a new water pump, I mean it could never hurt, but if you're looking to save a few bucks. How many miles on the thing? The two pulleys will also wear out, so that's a judgment call on your part.

In terms of buying the parts, most vendors sell OEM kits. Like Mr. Peepers said, the OEM vs. aftermarket parts is your call. Personally, I know guys who have had aftermarket auto tensioners fail on them. Therefore, I always go nothing but OEM on these parts because if the timing belt goes, then the smart money says your engine will go as well. Check out vendors like Mach V, Slowboy, Extreme PSI, etc.

Are you doing this yourself? if not take it to Able Motorsports alot of us DFW,Tx take ours too him he does awesome work.

What is the sprocket directly to the right of the crankshaft sprocket ? Mine is chipped and has dents in it. Is it included in this : 4G63 4G63T Mitsubishi Timing Kit Package 1All Engines '89 thru 1992 Or do I have to buy it seperate ?

From what you described it sounds like the oil pump sprocket; this also runs the rear balance shaft.

I couldn't find it on the site or know where to get it(reasonably) besides a junkyard. I've never actually seen one damaged.

I recommend changing your: cam seals, crankshaft seal, and front case seals while the timing belt is being done. Many people dont change these every 60,000 miles but if they go out between timing belt changes you will be taking it all off again. Might as well while you are in there!

I have had great experiences with parts dinosaur:

Cam seals:
G63B 4G15 4G37 4G63 4G64 Mitsubishi Front Cam Seal

Frontcase seals (including crankshaft seal):
4G63 Timing Gasket Set (Oil Pump Body) 89 - 92

^^^That set is nifty because it has the square gasket that goes around your timing cover :thumb:

How do I get everything lined up correctly before installing the timing belt ? Don't get me wrong, I've done a timing belt job before on an 86 honda accord. I guess what I really mean is what do the timing marks look like and where are they ?

Are these where they are supposed to be ?
