Sudbury,
Hey there

I drive a 95 gst.

Was in great shape up until the last week or so before I had to put it away in storage.

Problem 1:
When coming out of first gear, while letting off the clutch, i feel a weird jerk and almost like a grinding sound. Doesnt happen comming out of any other gears.

Problem 2:
When coming to a stop while I press the brake while I have the clutch in, the car will not want to stay running. The RPM drop immediatly and poof, its dead. It take a few times to turn over to get it to fire up again.

Any ideas or suggestions on what this could be? Im hoping its not too pricey of a fix.

Thanks in advance.

Ryan

as to your idle problem, check your iac valve, the little motor on the back (firewall) side of the throttle body. Those burn out frequently and are often the cause of idle problems. As for the grinding noise, you should try and elaborate more, can you feel the grinding through the stick shift? in the floor? where does the noise seem to be coming from?

I have had a similar problem. 1 heard a slight noise when letting out the clutch and 2 dying when stoping in gear with clutch in "didn't do it every time, It was just right there at the verge between in and out"... sounds to me like your clutch might not be fully disengaging when you push in your clutch pedal... I tried to adjust my pedal lever and it took care of it for a few days and then my clutch dick shattered, AGAIN. I found the cause to be that the dowel "alignement" pins for mating the clutch housing to the motor were slightly loose in there bores causeing the clutch assy to not sit perfectly flush..which in turn was what was wiping out my clutch disks.. this might not be your problem but it sounds a lot like the problem i had and may be worth checking into!

Hello again,

Well I went to the eclipse (in storage) to fire her up, battery was shot so I bought a new one and the RPM and clutch/brake problem seemed to stop.

Now there is a high pitch squeeling comming from the engine whenever i have the clutch engaged. I cant feel it through the stick, but as im comming from a launch for a few second the noise stops(while clutch and gas at the same time) then it will start again when im off the clutch...

Sounds like the noise is comming from the drivers side of the engine, near the firewall, at the bottom..(sorry, im mechanically retarded)

any ideas now? hope this helps

stethoscope the motor and find where the noise is coming from first so we can help you out a bit...

If you are sure the sound is coming from the far driver side of the engine bay then it could be your power steering pump, If they get low then air gets in the lines and pump and they squeal at start ups and low RPM's. So check the fluid in the PS reservoir.

I will go check the PS res out today... its hard being 30 mins away from the car. Still in storage.

thanks again guys.

my beast also dies when put the clutch in not all the time but sometimes. embarrassing.. :( iac valve? what is that do you have a picture so i know what it looks like.. also i dont have a ground coming off the harness to my altinator would this cause that also my light dim when i hit the brake and idle drops too when i turn anything on such as my lights or heater vents or defrost. what would cause this??
