Ok heres the story from the start. I get up yesterday morning and go visit a friend of mine. we were gonna change the valve cover gasket and do some tinker on my car next weekend and he wanted to have a look at it. I stop an get gas on my way. I had about and 1/8th of a tank and i filled it slap up. drive to his house have no problems sit there and BS for an hr. Start the car up a few times and everythings good. I had to start talking crap about how proud i was that i had my car a year now and hadnt had any major problems. Im driving home and about a mile before my house im sitting at a stop light and it stutters and dies. Try to crank it and nothing. Push the car across 6 lanes of traffic and into a parking lot. My friend gets there and we go to autozone and get a fuel filter. The old one was full of rust colored crap! we get it on and the car still wont start. I can spray brake cleaner in the intake and it fires up with no problem. So we pull the backseat and i look in the tank. There is a decent amount of junk in there but its not rusted thank god. So the crap had to have come from my gas station, we have problems with bad gas down here ### the salt water gets in the ground an rots the tanks. I can hear the fuel pump kicking on when i turn the key over but it doesnt sound very strong.

So here are my thoughts and I welcome others: My fuel lines, rail, and injectors are so clogged now that it cant get gas to pump thru and it has probably burnt up my fuel pump trying to push all the crap thru. We are gonna take the entire fuel system off wendsday and blow it out and probably change the fuel pump if i can find the money to buy it. I was just wondering if someone could have another idea of something i may have missed of an easier solution to this problem. I am very short on time and he is a police officer and doesnt have many days off so i gotta try to get this in the first shot. I NEED MY DD BACK!! LOL

when i hit the valve on the side of the fuel rail i dont have anything. i mean i tried to keep it simple(air fuel and fire) when i spray brake cleaner in the IM it will crank right up. I dont know if my lines could be this clogged up or if the pump just gave out from trying to push thru all the trash. I am getting a pump tomorrow hopefully and putting it in on wendsday along with taking all the lines, fuel rail and injectors off and blowing them out. I really hope thats what it is becuase i dont have the money to drop into it if that doesnt work. I can hear the pump come on when i turn the key over but it doesnt sound very strong. I dont think it could be a relay becuase i do hear it come on. Could this be worse than i am thinking ie. Ecu or something that would cause a loss of fuel pressure?

So, when you spray brake cleaner into the IM, it runs?
In that case, the pump probably is not bad, if it runs.
You might want to look at fuel pressure period before buying a pump. Get a fuel pressure tester, free to rent at autozone.

Im sorry i guess i should have been more specific on that. It will run while you are spraying the brake cleaner by as soon as you take the nozzle of it it dies. Its only running on the brake cleaner. No fuel up to the rail

You are on the right track. Clean all of the lines, remove and clean the inlets of the injectors, clean fuel rail, remove fpr and clean it, and remove the pump and clean the sock. If it still has the same problem, replace the fp.

Thanks guys my buddy is coming by to get it with a trailer tomorrow and we are gonna start. Atleast it wont cost much if the pumps still good. Just taking all this crap off and blowing it out and cleaning. Even though i knew it would do no good i called the gas station yesterday and complained. I got the expected response " we are sorry but we are not responsible for anything that happends as a result of our gas". wont go there again for sure

well thanks for everyones advice. Im about to get off work in a little bit and im off tomorrow so i wont be able to check anything. im keeping my fingers crossed this all goes well and im up an running tomorrow. what the hell am i saying its a DSM if i get this figured out and running tomorrow itll be a small miracle:D if i dont get it running im just gonna find something else to drive and its going down for awhile and getting some new goodies. yall have a good nite

well a quick update. not much got done yesterday cause of things that were out of my control. But As of right now the tank and sock on the fuel pump are FULL of crap. I guess my real question at this point is could my injectors survive this. Im going to try to clean them but i know how sensitive injectors are and if there is enough crap in the lines to preven fuel from flowing id imagine the injectors are fried?

The sock and fuel filter should trap 90% of the trash before it makes it to the injectors. The filter in the top of the injectors should catch the remaining debris. The key is to make sure that the filters in the injectors and clean.

thanks, thats great news. I just talked to my friend and he got done cleaning out the sock and hes gonna see if it will turn over and we are gonna drop the tank and clean it tonite. He said he had to take pics of the sock because he has never seen one that bad so i will get them and post pics of the tank and that up. Im almost getting optimistic ill be back on the road tomorrow:D

update to the update. well there is still no pressure to the fuel rail:cry: my buddy pulled the line off the fuel filter and when you turn the key over you can hear the pump come on but it isnt pumping anything. So the best that can be figured is the pump is shot becuase of the crap in the tank. somehow it still kicks on but isnt doing a damn thing. Well off to whore myself out for a fuel pump. Maybe itll be back up and running by the end of the weekend:sosad:

When you put the fuel pump back into the assembly be sure that the little o-ring is in there straight and in good condition. If it's not the pump will not prime;)

Thanks I dont know if he took it out the assembly but maybe he did and its just not sitting in there right. Ill have to ask tonite but i really dont have any extra money right now so i pray that is something as simple as that. im starting to get that "should have just bought a honda" feeling ROFLROFL...but what would be the fun in having something start up and run at 40mpg everyday if it looked like that LOL

Oh i have learned my lesson. I will never talk good about againLOL. Im remaining neutral on the subject. its a car and its mine thats as far as im going good or bad

Well I got the fuel pump in sunday morning. I will say that as the easiest fuel pump I have ever done. I have done 2 on my big 4x4 jeeps and had to drop the tank and all. But this one took 30 mins tops. I havent driven my car for a week and the first thing i could think when i started it up was. god my exhaust is loudLOL i think i am going to get that taken care of . Thanks to everybody for you your help
