Possible bad turbo? HELP

My 2g all stock minus exhaust and intake will drive okay but it backfires and smokes a bit once it gets into full boost. Compression showed 125 across. However the car will bog down to 200rpms and miss, backfire, pop etc like crazy. It will do this once it gets warmed up. Any idea? I do know the turbo has quite a bit of shaftplay but would it cause this?

I'm not to sure if the turbo would cause it to do that but have you checked the spark plugs and seen what they are gapped to?

Those aren't turbo symptoms. If you are running higher than stock boost, you need to gap your spark plugs tighter or you will often have "spark plug blow-out". You symptoms could also be caused by running too rich or running out of fuel. I don't see injectors in your mods. Are you running a 20g on the stock fuel system?

take a look at his post again.......... all stock minus intake and exhaust. so he's running the 14b. and since he's all stock except int. and exh. he would be running a little higher boost than stock. the exhaust would bump him up 1 psi or so.

125 is a little low on compression, especially across the board. how many miles does your car have on it?? it might be getting time to rebuild the top end, rings especially. but that might not be your problem at all. as stated before, you need to run a boost leak test. hold it at 20 psi and see what you've got.

are you getting a CEL now?? if you are you need a diagnostic check run on it. i can tell you more once i know if you are getting a CEL and what the trouble code is.
