For one my starter keep grinding, tried two differant ones. Bolts are drawed tight as possible. I just put in a new clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing, and had fly wheel resurfaced at a local machine shop. The flywheel had no missing teeth either, I did inspect in before installing. Any ideas whats up here before I damage something bad? Because it is my daily driver.

Second my car does have a big 16g but stock side mount and intercooler piping. On the passanger side front the boost line that run underneath the intake and down to the top of the sidemount, it keeps popping out on me completly and no matter what I cannot get it where it won't pop out. Why the heck did they make that thing plastic? Anyone have any suggestions for that? I've drove around with a grinding starter and boost leak all day. Thanks

the starter issue is a common thing with aftermarket flywheels for some reason. and your ic pipe problem shoulb be as easy as slipping a rubber or poly coupler over the two ends and clamping them down.

Does the car still start? If it doesn't it could be a bad starter. What could be happening is that the starter motor is spinning the gears on the starter, but they aren't moving forward to fully mesh with the flywheel.

there's a funny rubber O- ring insert that goes inside one part and outside the other or something like that. It was a while ago. You need to have that thing perfectly set up.

shoot, that was a long time ago. I say just order the upper intercooler pipes that you need to replace that funny shaped plastic pipe anyway.

eventually my pipe that you're talking about, the flat one that runs under the fuse box, cracked right along where it goes through the fenderwell there. just plan on getting rid of it.

Got the boost leak fixed with a aftermarket silicone coupling for now until I get some money to order my intercooler and piping. The starter didn't grind until after I got the flywheel machined. The started is good, it'll start the car but will grind in the process of doing it.

you might have to shim the starter a little, in the box with the starter, there are shims, put in one and see if that helps.

I'll try the shim idea, I'm going to have to find some shims though. Yes, the metal plate was put back in between the motor and tranny.

i've had shops give me the wrong starter. it looks almost the same, but not quite. I don't know if it was really for the AWD (i have fwd) or 1g vs 2g, but it looked almost the same, the sprocket was just slightly different in size.

something to look for.

Well here's the deal it was grinding because one of the two bolt holes on the starter itself broke. One of the whole ears on the starter broke actually so it was only being held in by one bolt. So I had another laying in the garage put it in and the first time it didnt grind shut it off and it grinds, turn out it broke again, anyone know whats up?
