im having a fuel cut out problem like alot of people but mine seems a little worse, i just bought a 92 laser turbo and heres whats goin on , when u start the car on idle it sits there and surges and occassionaly stalls out , if u try to drive it down the road as long as ## coasting it runs great but as soon as u apply almost any throttle to it , bam its like hitting a freakin wall , it bucks jumps and completly cuts out till u let off the gas, , im not talkin like full throttle or half throttle i mean like 1/4th throttle it seem like if u accelerate extremly slow and dont let it begin to boost it will accelerat but the moment that boost gauge crosses 0 and hits any boost..... fuel cut out .... now that only when driving tho . when its sitting in my garage idling i can rev it up to about 3- 3500 rpm and about 5-7 lbs boost and the car will do fine until that point ( even if u go full throttle for a second) and when it hits that mark it will once again cut out. ive checked for boost leaks - nothing significant there, checked vaccum leaks all ok , replaced plugs and wires still no better. any feed back or advice would be extremly appreciated guys . im new to dsm's this is my first one and im lost with this car . HELP LOL thanks

chris

The problem is your fuel system, just so you know it will not buck under coasting with no gas because the car is in decelerate mode and only pumps air. The first thing to check is your injectors the procedure is to place a screw driver against the injectors one at a time and listen on the end of the screw driver for a clicking sound, you can also use a stethoscope, while running. With the car off take the electrical plug off and hook an ohm meter in the connection spot, you should measure from 2.0 to 3.0 ohm. If the injectors come out good then you have to check the fuel pump pressure.

Check to make sure all your piping is connected. My intercooler pipe blew off near the compressor outlet and this is how my car ran.

yea i checked all the injectors with a screw driver and all are clicking the same, also checked all piping for my intercooler, i even removed everything and put it all back together and no difference. how can u check the fuel pressure on these cars with no valve on the fuel rail?

May want to replace the fuel filter but to check the fuel pump for pressure you need a special test gauge that you might be able to loan from an auto parts store, check to see if you can locate one.

when i bought mine it did the same thing but it was a combination of a bad knock sensor and my cam sensor was off a bit. fixed them and now it runs like a champ :talon:
